We are a training practice for doctors who wish to work in General Practice. These are fully qualified doctors working under our supervision; please accept them as a valued addition to the team. Part of this training will necessitate that on occasions there will be video recording of patient consultations. This will not take place without a patient’s consent and any intimate physical examination will not be recorded. The camera will be switched off on request.
When necessary we do use locum cover for doctors who are on leave, for professional reasons or when attending meetings/seminars.
Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Our Advanced Nurse Practitioners have undertaken further training and are qualified to examine, diagnose, and treat. They offer appointments, carry out home visits and work in close conjunction with the doctors and nurses. Our nurse practitioners can prescribe and refer and also provide holiday cover for doctor’s clinics.
Mel is and Independent Nurse Prescriber and she has an Advanced Diplomain Clinical Nursing, a Bsc (hons) Enhanced clinical studies in Tissue Viability, a Diploma in Asthma, Copd, Diabetes and caring studies. She is also a Smoke Stop advisor and has undertaken the Practice Nurse Leadership Programme.
Mel manages the Nursing Team and hold clinics in Chronic Disease Management.
Our practice nurses offer a wide range of nursing services by appointment. They can help you with dressings, removal of sutures, injections, ear syringing, travel advice, childhood immunisations, health promotion and other referrals, which you doctor may arrange. They also assist the doctors in minor surgery and are always available to offer professional advice.
Our health care assistants routinely carry out blood tests, ECGs, blood pressure checks, new registration health checks and NHS health checks.
Ann will do all she can to help you with any
queries or comments about administrative or
non-medical aspects of your health care.
Cathy oversees the day to day
running of the surgery and HR aspects of
Contracts Manager, MDT Co-ordinator, Safeguarding Admin Lead and Carers Lead.

Clinics are available every Tuesday morning at the Wyke Regis Health Centre and at Lanehouse Surgery on a Friday morning. Please ring 782226 to make an appointment through the reception team. If you think you are pregnant, please complete a self-referral form. If you need to contact the Chesil midwife team, please ring them on Dorchester 254252.
The team work closely with the doctors, practice nurses and other services such as Community Matrons, Continence Advisors and Social Services. Their duties include visiting patients of any age in their own homes, giving practical assistance or offering professional advice. To contact them please ring the Health Centre on 831330.
Our Community Matron works alongside the GP’s and District Nurses to visit our patients and provide care in the community.
The health visitor is available for advice on health care and health provision for the under-fives, expectant mums and young families. The health visitor is based at Littlemoor Health Centre their telephone number is 01305 361071.
Lorna Hallett and Cathy Stone provide specialist advice on cancer care and palliative care, support to patients and their families in their homes, day-care and volunteer practical help.
Appointments by referral only, patients need to meet a certain criteria. Clinics are held at the Wyke Regis Health Centre .

Ann Macdonald is at Wyke Health Centre every Friday mornings for advice and on Monday mornings at Lanehouse Surgery for problems relating to benefits, housing, debt, consumers, relationships and many other problems, appointments can be made through the reception team.
